The CVH Animal Sanctuary is nestled in the very heart of Newtown, spread over 34 acres of pristine farmland, breathtaking woodlands and rolling meadows. Visitors are welcome to explore the extensive hiking and equestrian trails, savor the lush butterfly gardens or have a quiet picnic at the pavilion. Enjoy the tranquility of this special place, the land that embodies the beauty, optimism and purity of all that lies ahead.

The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary is located at the end of Old Farm Road in Newtown, CT.

While the sanctuary does not currently have a facility or building on-site, the property is free and open to the public from dawn until dusk.

The sanctuary is not able to accept animals at this time. Please contact your local animal shelter, animal control officer or a wildlife rehabilitator if you find an animal in need.

Directions from I- 84

  • Exit 11 off I-84. Take a left onto Wasserrman Way.
  • Follow Wasserman Way to the 1st light- This will be the Fairfield Hills Complex.
  • Take a right at the light @ Fairfield Hills Complex.
  • Follow the road- you will pass Gov. Horse Guard on right and Reed School on the left
  • At the end of the road take a Right onto Old Farm Road
  • Follow Old Farm pass the animal control center/ dog park on your left. At a blue shed the road goes from paved to dirt. It bends around and will come to a creek/ bridge.
  • Park at the signage kiosk and continue on foot over the bridge.

Directions from I-136 and CT- 25N

  • Follow CT-136 E
  • Continue onto CT 59-N
  • Left onto 25N- follow 25 N to Wasserman Way
  • Turn right onto Wasserman Way and continue to the 1st light
  • Take a left at the light @ Fairfield Hills Complex.
