Through local rescue support, outreach, super adoption events and an expanding foster network, the Sanctuary is working to make a difference for animals and the people who care for them.
The Senior Paw Project is a joint effort of the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation and the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS). These two animal welfare organizations established an Adoption Ambassadors program in Fairfield County, Connecticut, in collaboration with the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®). The focus of the Senior Paw Project’s Adoption Ambassadors program is to find loving homes for senior animals rather than a shelter.
Once the senior animals complete program orientations, Senior Paw Ambassadors can provide homes for dogs or cats available for adoption and pledge to help other animals find loving homes. This can be accomplished through word of mouth, social media posts and emails to friends and family. Additionally, Ambassadors can process adoptions themselves by participating in adoption applications/surveys and any applicable fees to the shelter.
