Summer at the Sanctuary – Backyard Birding

July 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us at the Sanctuary this Summer!

Ever wonder who those little guys are at your feeder, who’s singing that beautiful song, what’s that large
bird circling in the sky, or “Hoo” goes there in the evening? Join professional naturalist and CVHAS Educator,
Henryk Teraszkiewicz, at the Animal Sanctuary to learn about all the new tech that could turn you into a
backyard birder! Dress appropriately for trail walking and bring a water bottle as we explore our feathered
friends at the Sanctuary and learn to tell who’s “hoo”, who’s nest, and how we can help.

Please, be sure to dress for the weather and wear shoes appropriate to trail walking.  If you have binoculars, cameras,
or other birding equipment, please feel free to bring it along.  We will be learning about the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s
eBird and Merlin Bird ID citizen science platforms and identification tools.  If you have a smart device, please consider
downloading the free eBird and Merlin Bird ID apps previous to the program, which will allow you to make your own
identifications, bird calls, and contributions to conservation.

For more information about the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, please go to http://www.birds.cornell.edu.

All children under 12 must be accompanied by a caregiver.
